Initiated by RMIT postgraduates in 2018, Curatorial Collective is an artist-led non-profit organisation based in Naarm (Melbourne) . By working with emerging artists at RMIT as well as the wider communities, RCC aims to generate innovative insights and knowledge, to foster a connection between people of different backgrounds and fields of expertise. RCC emphasises on cultural diversity and inclusiveness and often facilitate multi-cultural projects.

We have been developed projects including a range of creative art and cultural workshops, research and symposiums, international art exhibitions and exchanges. We have collaborated with RMIT INTERSECT, Melbourne Central, National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne Fringe Festival, Footscray Community Arts, ANAT, First Site Gallery, PS50 Gallery, Arts Managers Society (University of Melbourne), Diversity Arts Australia, Bangkok University, Japan Foundation Asia Center, Mekong Cultural Hub, Shenzhen & Hong Kong Bi-city Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture, Artists Co-op and more.

 

COMMITTEE TEAM

Rosina Yuan

(President 2023-, Committee Member 2017-2023)

Rosina is interested in everything related to art and technology. She begin her journey at RMIT studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) with a research focus on cultural identity, space, and AR/VR applications. She is now a Phd candidate with a research focus of VR, human computer interactions and natural environments. As an artist, Rosina experiments with public installations, paintings, digital illustrations, and art productions. Her artworks are often influenced by social surroundings and personal encounters with nature.

Sherry Liu

(Vice President 2023-, Committee Member 2020-2023)

Sherry is a current PhD candidate in the School of Art, RMIT. She is an emerging young artist, is focusing on socially engaged art practice. Sherry studied fine art and public art between 2012 and 2016 at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology in Shanghai. Then she moved to Australia and studied Master of Art in Public Space at RMIT.  Sherry's artistic practice connects issues of the environment with social engagement, to explore how creative practice to illuminate the value of communities as well as create effective engagement with the public.

Katherine Lee (Executive)

Katherine Lee is a Naarm/Melbourne-based arts administrator, creative producer, and fundraiser. She is passionate about facilitating the connection between art and society by creating cross-artform programs. She has organised projects such as community art festivals, school programs, theatre performances, tours, and exhibitions. Katherine is also an active creative business entrepreneur and enthusiastic about advocating financial sustainability for arts organisations. Katherine co-founded and chaired the Arts Managers Society at the University of Melbourne and was the Future Founder Scholar at StartSpace, State Library Victoria. She completed her Master’s study at the University of Melbourne and was listed on Dean’s list with the Melbourne Graduate Scholarship. Katherine has worked as a producer, coordinator and in development roles for organisations including the Gasworks Arts Park, Japanese Film Festival Australia, Mentone Public Library, Flinders Quartet, Curatorial Collective, and Environmental Film Festival Australia.

Chunwai Yeung (Co-founder 2017)                                                                                                                                                          

Wilson is an artist-curator, researcher and creative producer. He is currently a PhD (Architecture and Design) candidate and a member of Contemporary Art and Social Transformation (CAST) Research Group. Wilson's research interest is collective curatorial practice and contemporary Asian art in Australia. Wilson co-founded Curatorial Collective in RMIT with Yun Ci Valerie Sim in 2018.
