

ABOUT

Initiated by RMIT postgraduates in 2018, Curatorial Collective is an artist-led non-profit organisation based in Naarm (Melbourne) . By working with emerging artists at RMIT as well as the wider communities, RCC aims to generate innovative insights and knowledge, to foster a connection between people of different backgrounds and fields of expertise. RCC emphasises on cultural diversity and inclusiveness and often facilitate multi-cultural projects.
We have been developed projects including a range of creative art and cultural workshops, research and symposiums, international art exhibitions and exchanges. We have collaborated with RMIT INTERSECT, Melbourne Central, National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne Fringe Festival, Footscray Community Arts, ANAT, First Site Gallery, PS50 Gallery, Arts Managers Society (University of Melbourne), Diversity Arts Australia, Bangkok University, Japan Foundation Asia Center, Mekong Cultural Hub, Shenzhen & Hong Kong Bi-city Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture, Artists Co-op and more.

Liang Xiao
(President 2025)
Liang is a interdisciplinary artist, researcher, and curator. Her interdisciplinary practice merges art, technology, biology, and posthumanist philosophy—exploring entanglements between humans, plants, and artificial intelligence through video, installation, and image. She holds a Master’s degree with Distinction in Art and Science from Central Saint Martins (UAL, London). Her work has been exhibited internationally at venues such as the London Design Festival, Arsenale di Venezia, and the Shanghai Exhibition Centre, and she has presented her research at HCII, Cumulus, RIXC, and other international conferences.
Luna Tian
(Vice President 2025)
Luna is a PhD candidate at RMIT University, specializing in social design and community design. Her research examines decentralized, decolonial, and relational design methodologies, exploring how design can operate within complex social contexts to foster belonging and strengthen community ties.She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication Design from Beijing Jiaotong University (2013–2017), including an exchange program at Ming Chuan University in Taiwan (2016). From 2018 to 2020, she completed a Master’s degree in Communication Design at RMIT after relocating to Melbourne. Drawing on her cultural background and lived experiences, Luna’s research contributes to the development of inclusive, critical, and contextually grounded design practices.
Sisi Mao

Sisi Mao is an emerging interior designer currently completing her Master of Interior Design at RMIT University. With a strong foundation in creative thinking and multidisciplinary skills, she focuses on the integration of virtual and physical spaces, sustainable design, and the application of innovative technologies. Sisi received her Bachelor of Interior Design (Honours) from RMIT in 2024, and has internship experience in both enterprise service and architectural design with Shanghai Maoli Zhongchuang Space Management Co., Ltd. Her work bridges graphic design, interior detailing, and digital presentation, aiming to create immersive and human-centered environments. Sisi is passionate about exploring how design can enhance everyday experiences and promote meaningful engagement with users through space, material, and visual storytelling.

Katherine Lee (Executive)
Katherine Lee is a Naarm/Melbourne-based arts administrator, creative producer, and fundraiser. She is passionate about facilitating the connection between art and society by creating cross-artform programs. She has organised projects such as community art festivals, school programs, theatre performances, tours, and exhibitions. Katherine is also an active creative business entrepreneur and enthusiastic about advocating financial sustainability for arts organisations. Katherine co-founded and chaired the Arts Managers Society at the University of Melbourne and was the Future Founder Scholar at StartSpace, State Library Victoria. She completed her Master’s study at the University of Melbourne and was listed on Dean’s list with the Melbourne Graduate Scholarship. Katherine has worked as a producer, coordinator and in development roles for organisations including the Gasworks Arts Park, Japanese Film Festival Australia, Mentone Public Library, Flinders Quartet, Curatorial Collective, and Environmental Film Festival Australia.
Dr Sherry Liu
(Vice President 2023-, Committee Member 2020-2023)
Dr Sherry graduated in School of Art, RMIT. She is an emerging young artist, is focusing on socially engaged art practice. Sherry studied fine art and public art between 2012 and 2016 at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology in Shanghai. Then she moved to Australia and studied Master of Art in Public Space at RMIT. Sherry's artistic practice connects issues of the environment with social engagement, to explore how creative practice to illuminate the value of communities as well as create effective engagement with the public.
Curatorial
